Working Group: Data Spaces for Next Generation Cloud

Objectives (Accepted)

Extract from "Objective and Activities" from Draft WG Mandate and Terms of Reference v0.8 (see linked .DOC below):

The primary objective of this WG is to increase synergies between both EGI Federation and European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) and new efforts around Data Spaces and Cloud Federation, as proposed in A European Strategy for Data^[1] (EUSD), as well as with the GAIA-X initiative spearheaded by Germany and France and being led by GAIA-X AISBL^[2], the data sharing initiatives of the International Data Spaces Association, and the proposed European Alliance for Industrial Cloud and Data.  These initiatives are collectively referred to as the “Target Initiatives”.

Activities (Accepted)

• Coordinate engagement of the EGI and EOSC communities (including EGI Foundation, EGI participants, EGI users, EOSC members) with one or more Target Initiatives;
• Monitoring membership and participation of the EGI EOSC communities in the Target Initiatives;
• Track, and participate in, evolution of technical approaches being considered and implemented by one or more Target Initiatives;
• Track, and participate in, definition of requirements for use cases being considered and implemented by one or more Target Initiatives, which are relevant to the research and innovation communities;
• Promote consideration of EGI community technical, architectural and organizational solutions in the area of federated AAI, data management, and federated computing, for adoption by one or more Target Initiatives;
• Promote data sources and data catalogues, not only from research domains but also publicly available data from the EC, Member States and other organizations, for inclusion in one or more Target Initiatives.
• Promote members of the EGI community as partners in, providers to, and users of one or more Target Initiatives.
